Biography
I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit Michigan. Somehow at a very young age I developed an interest in being a doctor. I think I was about ten years old. My family background is in the auto industry, not even remotely associated with health care. I did spend many summers working part time in a factory that my father owned doing hot grimy and basically unpleasant work. As anyone could guess this contributed to my desire to be a professional. I completed my bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Michigan While there I worked on glaucoma research. I stayed there for my medical degree as well. While there I met my first wife. After medical school I did my residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit. While there my first daughter, Alex, was born. After residency I took a job with a large multispecialty group just outside of Sacramento. The practice was not the perfect fit for me and the town was a little too small. After three years we relocated to the Santa Cruz area where I started my own practice. After a year and a half I joined my current partners. September 11, 2001 had an impact on all of us and I think that in a way it resulted in the end of my marriage. Fortunately for me I met another woman who is beautiful, wonderful and the love of my life. We married in 2009 and had a child, Elizabeth Rose. Over the past several years my professional responsibilities have grown and in addition to my medical practice I am the president of a very successful surgery center and president of an outstanding hearing aid business. I have a small real estate investment business with one of my closest friends as well. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains overlooking the Monterey Bay and everyday I awaken knowing that I am one of the luckiest people alive.
